Bathroom Lifts
Lifting in the Bathroom is the second most common need in the home or in a commercial building. Transferring to the toilet, tub, or shower in an important part of a normal routine and activities of daily living. When transfer assistance is needed and a stand and pivot transfer is not possible, a bathroom lift system is the safest and most independent option. There are several solutions that can help with transfers in the bathroom.
Here are the options:
- Sliding transfer system over tub, shower or toilet such as a ShowerBuddy or TubBuddy. These devices have a rolling chair that connects to a track to slide into the tub/shower or slide over the toilet. You don’t have to lift or stand up and can stay seated during the transfer.
- Wall Lift System that picks you up from your chair or toilet and lifts you into the tub or shower. Because it is mounted on the wall, it takes up much less space than a sliding transfer system and much less space than a mobile floor lift. You may be able to operate this independently or you many need assistance, as the lift will hold you up but you will need to push off a wall to move.
- Ceiling Lift – A ceiling lift has a lift motor that is attached to the ceiling with a track. The motor can glide along the track and the track can be installed to go over the exact spot that you need to sit in the bathtub, shower, or toilet. This option can be either operated independently or with assistance depending on the needs.
Independent Lift Systems are mounted to the ceiling and can be used without help. Glide to the bedroom, bathroom, or living room. With a continuous track, you can push a simple remote control to travel forward or backward, and raise and lower yourself.
