Curved Stair Lift Overview
The Bruno Elite curved stair lift differs from other curved stairlifts. Other lifts have a hollow tube that is bent to fit your stairs. The challenge is that these tubes vibrate and shake as you ride, and they expose the gear of the lift which has to be greased, ending in a messy problem on your stairs. Also, most other curved stair lifts have 2 of these hollow rails, and the top rail is 2 feet off the ground which creates an eyesore. The Bruno Elite curved stair lift rides on a solid steel rail that provides a smooth ride. The rail is heavier, more stable, and is only 9 inches high, so it fits close to the floor. The gear is hidden at the bottom of the rail, and covered, so that it is never visible and remains dust-free and running optimally.
The other company that makes curved stair lift is a U.K. based company called Acorn stair lifts. Their curved stairlift is built of modular parts that are cut and assembled at your home. Because it is not custom fit, but hand cut, this lift cannot fit as close to your wall and has larger curves that stick out into the staircase. Also, the Acorn lift has to travel at a much slower speed so that it can travel up the rail. It can take twice as long to use this type of stair lift. With this modular design, this lift can be installed a few days faster than a custom made rail, but the lift has to slow down for every curve to operate. It is sensitive and can be unreliable because it has to be programmed to know where the curves are at, and it can erase this programming which creates an outage and requires a service call to fix.
For the reasons outlined, the Bruno Elite curved stair lift is Accessible System’s solution of choice for moving up and down curved stairways safely in a home.
